Back the Bobcats Spirit week 2025

The San Marcos community takes immense pride in being the home of Texas State University. In the days leading up to the kick-off of Football season, the San Marcos Chamber is holding this community-wide spirit campaign to encourage local businesses to show support and help welcome to town the thousands of students, alumni and visitors who will be circulating for the Bobcats home opener game (Saturday, Aug. 30)!

Local businesses are encouraged to decorate their interiors and exteriors starting in mid-August. Let’s paint the town maroon & gold!

All entries will be visited by the “Spirit Squad” on judging day featuring the First Lady of Texas State Beth Damphousse, Bobcat coaching family members Summer Kinne, Marci Coryell and Blair Trout, Assistant Coach David Bailiff, and Chamber president Page Michel, who will make the rounds to see your Bobcat spirit and take photos! Judging Day is Tuesday, Aug. 26. You’ll get great publicity just by entering! Winners are announced at the Block Party on North Street on Friday, Aug. 29.

There are 4 categories in the Back the Bobcats decorating contest: Best Exterior, Best Interior, Best Window Signage and First Timer’s Award. What can you win? Winners receive H-E-B gift cards, tickets to the Home Opener with on-field recognition, Bobcat swag and awesome bragging rights!
