Back the Bobcats Spirit week
Sept. 7 – 11, 2026

The countdown is on! This Fall marks an exciting new chapter as Texas State University begins its inaugural season in the Pac-12 Conference, bringing bigger matchups, national attention, and thousands of visitors to San Marcos. The excitement kicks off with the highly anticipated “Battle of I-35” as the Bobcats take on the UTSA Roadrunners in the home opener game on Saturday, September 12.

The San Marcos Area Chamber invites businesses across our community to help paint the town maroon & gold during football season! Decorate your storefronts, offices, and windows to show your Bobcat pride and help create an awesome welcome for students, alumni, fans, and visitors from across the region.

Take your Bobcat Pride to the next level by entering the “Back the Bobcats” Business Decorating Contest. Compete for a chance to win big! Rally your team and get creative! There are several ways to win.

There are 4 categories in the Back the Bobcats decorating contest: Best Exterior, Best Interior, Best Window Signage and First Timer’s Award. What can you win? Winners receive $100 H-E-B gift cards, exciting on-field recognition at the Home Opener football game and ticket packages, Bobcat swag…and awesome bragging rights!

All entries will be visited by the “Spirit Squad” on judging day, Sept. 10, featuring Bobcat coaching family stars Summer Kinne, Marci Coryell, Blair Trout, Julie Holeman, Assistant Coach David Bailiff, and Chamber president Page Michel. This posse will make the rounds to see your Bobcat spirit and take lots of photos for social media.
