Education & Workforce Development committee

This committee addresses issues of educational progress in San Marcos by strengthening the partnership between the business community and all available resources including the San Marcos CISD and Texas State University.  It fosters cooperative programs between business and education so that students will be prepared for the workforce after graduation.  It works with Chamber staff to facilitate the Youth Leadership program, annual S.T.E.A.M. Fair, Summer Teacher Externships and more.

Business Development committee

Comprised of members from a variety of business backgrounds, this committee helps to develop programs for small and minority-owned businesses, working closely with all businesses and community leaders and other councils to determine and recommend appropriate subjects of training, information sharing, and general business assessments.

AmbassadorS Club

To strengthen overall relationship with members by assisting with chamber events and creating awareness of the Chamber in the community, Ambassadors serve as greeters at Chamber events and foster goodwill among the membership.  Ambassadors are asked to serve for at least one year, and most choose to renew their Ambassadorship.

Young Professionals network

A networking group of the Chamber for those under 45, the San Marcos YP meets regularly for social and educational events plus volunteer/service opportunities. Events are included on the Chamber Calendar. They also coordinate the annual “Shining Stars Under 40” selection and award process.

Corridor Women’s network

The Corridor Women’s Network is a pioneering initiative by the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, crafted to empower and uplift professional women who live and work along the I-35 Corridor, stretching from Austin to San Antonio. Our mission is to foster a vibrant community where women can build meaningful connections, gain valuable insights, and support each other in their professional and personal journeys.

government relations Council

The Chamber’s Government Relations Council is charged with building an agenda to advocate for pro-business legislation for the benefit of San Marcos and the region. It compiles the list of top priorities biannually to present to our state legislators. It gathers feedback from the business community about local ordinances and regulations. It also works on policies at the federal level.
